Jack, a psychology student, visits the Lawrence Psychiatric Institute hoping to meet with Dr. Lawrence. Instead his visit turns into a nightmare when he encounters the demented patients, doctors and nurses that inhabit the institute.

Soon he is captured, strangled, then brought back to life and turned into a living manikin. His best friends John the Jock and Larry the Coulrophobe, try to rescue him, but they too are captured and strangled, then brought back to life and turned into living manikins.

While Dr. Lawrence and his staff discuss what to do with the boys, Nurse Katie, who suffers from an incurable foot obsession, deals with them her own way.
